When lockdown began back in March (2020), a gentleman I barely knew (DJ Trex) in my facebook network sent me an email with a request. He wanted to see if i'd be willing to make a mix for him in the vein of the homage mixes i've done in the past (Native Tongues, Outkast, etc) but for his favorite MC of all time, Redman. He explained to me that he is a nurse working on the frontlines of the covid pandemic and proclaimed he always wanted something like this in his possession and now would be the time to make it happen, especially with the future being so uncertain. Lump in my throat for real so I agreed without hesitation. We swiftly made a connection and have become friends over the last few months, checking in to see what the progress looks like on each of our ends. I took the project very seriously and am truly happy to present this to the world, on his behalf of course. My 1st major project during these unprecedented times. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it.

When I first heard "So This Is De La Heaven" I was in Waziema on Divisadero in SF and the De La Soul/Teenage Fanclub remix song came on and I got up and went to the bar and asked what this was on the stereo. The bartender handed me a CD and I wrote the title down on a napkin. I had to find this mix somehow so I made a trip to Amoeba and found a copy and listened to it again and again. So when a global pandemic forced artists to stop entertaining in public, I reached out to Platurn and asked if he could treat my favorite Reggie Noble songs with the same love and appreciation that he showed Pos, Trugoy, and Maseo. I told him that as a nurse, watching people live, heal, suffer, and die; music helps to heal the pain. Stop what you are doing and listen to a mix that will get you so loud...you would swear Redman was in side the truck.
