A.D.O.R. - The Concrete (25th Anniversary Edition) (1994 / 2020)

A.D.O.R. first came onto the scene in 1992 with "Let It All Hang Out" produced by his old friend and fellow Money Earnin Mount Vernon resident Pete Rock, who by 1992 was already an acclaimed producer and cited as one of the best in the biz. It was an instant classic and a hit in the summer of 1992, was driven by Pete Rock's irresistible horn loop and the tight flow of A.D.O.R.'s rhymes.
A.D.O.R. toured with major acts and made television appearances building on the buzz created by "Let It All Hang Out". In 1994 he followed up with a second single, "One for the Trouble", produced by K-Def and the legendary Queensbridge producer Marley Marl. "One for the Trouble" signaled that plans were underway for a debut album on Atlantic titled The Concrete. Despite his successful run at the major label, A.D.O.R. was let go from his contract with Atlantic in 1995 without The Concrete being released, reportedly because of disputes over creative decisions, even though promotional items were released and the catalogue number 82443 was assigned to the release.
To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Concrete, the album will be released on double vinyl with 3 bonus tracks and it will be released as a trifold edition!

Legendary Detroit MC Guilty Simpson & New Zealand producer Leonard Charles team up as "The Leonard Simpson Duo" and provide a one of a kind 70’s inspired, psychedelic & acid influenced Album.
The psychedelic sound of this album is heavily drawn from rare acid influenced records from New Zealand’s 60’s and 70’s, carefully selected, picked and sampled by musical multi-talent Charles himself and accompanied by very well placed instrumentals and interludes taking direction from late 60’s jazz/rock fusion, fuzzed out African records and compulsory David Axelrod leanings. All of that combined with the lyrics and the beloved attitude of Motor City’s finest makes this album a beautiful, inspirational and surpassing Trip.
Active since the mid ‘90’s Guilty Simpson (100k monthly listeners on spotify) has become an institution and earned his spot in Detroit’s hip-hop legacy alongside friends, fellows and colleagues such as J Dilla, Slum Village, Eminem, D12, Danny Brown, Big Sean, Phat Kat or Black Milk and receives nothing but love and respect from the hardest street emcees as well as from acclaimed producers wherever he goes. Over the last decade Guilty continued the name he made for himself since his 2008 debut “Ode To The Ghetto” (produced by i.e. Dilla, Madlib and others) and has delivered plenty of features, mixtapes and studio albums ever since.
Leonard Charles has been a music producer since 2001. In his late teens he already played and toured with i.e. Randy Crawford. Charles attended the Red Bull Music Academy in South Africa in 2003 where he performed i.e. with Hugh Masekela and attended lectures with synth pioneer Bob Moog. He has won New Zealand Music Awards for his production and composing work with the Band Opensouls (previously released on Jakarta Records) and singer Hollie Smith. As a session guitarist Jeremy has played on recordings for i.e. Aaradhna, Teeks, David Dallas and many more while as a producer he has worked with i.e. Grandmaster Caz, Kimbra, Mara T.K., Georgia Anne Muldrow, Declaime and others.

"Gris" is about the passing of time exploring classic sounds, with the dusty sampling, and mixing the rare vintage treasures of the past with the modern and experimental atmosphere that makes the unique style of Lidly which we love so much. Gris was originally a soundtrack made for a dear friend of Lidly and his hair salon called "Gris" in Nakameguro, Tokyo. Endangered Species' “Intangible” was an underground classic released in 1999 on cassette in a very limited run, when word got out this music somehow spread from Calgary throughout Canada to Chicago, Australia, Europe & beyond. The producer / MC combo of Nohow & Infinite P produced the record on the ASR-10 in their dusty home studio using records & a Roland digital 8 track. The only guest appearances were from Agape (Isosceles) & DJ Vinroc (5th Platoon / Triple Threat DJ’s) a song they recorded on tour.
21 years later this record finally gets it’s proper reissue treatment on vinyl, cassette and digitally.

It's been seven years since I dropped a Sequence collection and I'm literally "back in the room" with another one and a whole load of other things for 2020. This time S3.0 features 17 experimental productions that are much more Jazz based compared to the mixture of styles on the previous two volumes. The tracks are a mix of beats that were either made for certain artists who never came through, some were the result of sample challenges, as you know I love to do them at times. Others are either drafts I finally did arrangements for, or they're simply brand spanking new beats and loops made while testing out equipment or just jamming in the ‘Audio Dojo’.
Note: This is a beat tape. I'm slowly working on the official album and a few other collaborative bits which will all unfold in 2020.

The debut EP was produced, recorded and mixed by critically acclaimed Jakarta Records artists Bluestaeb and S. Fidelity
in London. The five-piece band’s neo soul- and jazz-infused instrumental hip-hop is heavily influenced by like minded acts
such as Yesterday’s New Quintet, BadBadNotGood and Butcher Brown.
Underground Canopy officially formed in 2016 after jamming and playing covers of Flying Lotus, Madlib and J. Dilla for
several years. Band members Jonathan Aréna (Keys), Warren Dongué (Bass), Necky Gomis (Trumpet/Flugelhorn),
Alfredo Grooveton (Drums) and Jeremy Talon (Guitar) members met in the south of France during their 20s and
immediately connected over their shared passion for hip-hop and instrumental music. The approach to compositions was
always to transform the vibe of jazzy hip-hop into hand made live music. They’ve played dozen of shows throughout
France, including support slots for Alan Mion’s legendary jazz funk outfit Cortex and rising Japanese jazz band WONK.
Through MENACE label founder Midori (Menace) the band met Bluestaeb, who moved from his hometown Berlin to Paris
in 2015, and his long time collaborator S. Fidelity, who is still based in the German capital. Both featured UC pianist
Jonathan Aréna on their previous records and collaborated with guitarist Jeremy Talon. The two producers, who are
signed to German tastemaker label Jakarta Records (Kaytranada, Mura Masa and Illa J among others), recognized the
raw creative potential of Underground Canopy and shaped their demos into six fully arranged and fully grown songs.
Additionally, Bluestaeb and S. Fidelity recorded a ten-minute jam of the band, which they left uncut showcasing the skill
and ingenuity of each member.
MENACE is a Paris- and Tokyo-based label run by producer and DJ Midori (Menace), who established it as a platform for
progressive instrumental music and production, including Japanese jazz innovator and DJ Toshio Mastuura’s HEX album.
