Bad Taste is proud to present the new joint from Obijuan and Grimm Doza ~ the king’s wishes. Ten tracks that tread a whole spectrum of lo-fi hip hop and the LP edition includes two bonus tracks as vinyl only exclusives.
Originally from the Bahamas but now living internationally with no fixed abode, Obijuan is a rising 23-year-old rapper that has been active with a series of solid solo projects as well as collaborations with the likes of Philanthrope, looms., Lord Apex and Toonorth. Grimm Doza is a prolific artist from New Jersey that’s previously produced beats for Roc Marciano, Tha God Fahim, Retch and Xxxtentacion.
‘Layin Low’ sets the tone of the record; Obijuan spitting headstrong lyrics and keeping it 100 over a with a hazy, low slung beat. ‘London Pack’ picks up the pace and re-affirms Obi’s nice flow, soon followed by a blunted trip to the clouds for ‘Waverunner (feat. Puddlegod)’.
‘sand scripts’ shows a rawer side to the project, Grimm Doza’s beat feels anxious, almost paranoid and Obi stating “…too much knowledge make the world feel frightening” is apt for the times we live in. Closing track ‘CAPSIZE’ continues that rawness; grungy production from the murky depths whilst Obi calls on Looms for a guest verse before making mc’s walk the plank.
the king’s wishes gets straight to the point. Obi let’s a track run for however long feels right, be that one minute or three. It’s about the vibe, the bars and the feeling that its done its thing. That’s why it’s best experienced in full, top to bottom, start to finish. Don’t just dip your toes in the ocean when you should be diving in.
Originally made in 1997 and for the first time on vinyl, Kimetic Principles is the lesser known Goodlife Cafe era's LA masterpiece album.
Although Darkleaf's roster as evolved over the years, only 3 members are featured on this project: the production duo of Jahli & Longevity (Lodge Infinite) and MC Kemit Qutob.
Darkleaf was once part of the Unity Committee supergroup with Jurassic 5 and developed a very distinctive, raw and abstract sound.
This very limited edition of 150 copies includes an insert with artwork by Cawzaone and a interview with Longevity about the album.
The next record to come out on Village Live is from Multi Instrumentalist producer ‘Liphe’. ‘A Portrait Of Ourselves’ is a full length instrumental LP of Liphe’s signature lofi hip hop production.
“The Rain” is the second full-length album by South London jazz rap group Summers Sons. Summers Sons are Turt (vocals) and Slim (production). They are actual brothers, Summers is their surname.
Since signing with Melting Pot Music in 2017, Summers Sons have released a mini-album “Undertones” and their debut album “Uhuru” (a joint venture with pianist and singer C.Tappin). They have been featured on albums by Twit One and Flatpocket, toured with Children of Zeus and played shows with Melodiesinfonie and FloFilz. The latter also remixed one of their songs as did Twit One and Cap Kendricks.
With the “The Rain” Summers Sons are entering new territory. Musically “The Rain” is the most advanced piece of work the duo has come forward with so far. Slim is breaking away from traditional song structures while keeping his trademark sound intact. The beats on “The Rain” are sparse and ever changing at the same time. Slim creates strong atmospheres and
melodies which provides the perfect backdrop for Turt's introspective and sometimes painfully personal lyrics. One of the album's main topics is the unexpected death of Turt's and Slim's stepfather in November 2018.
„The Rain is a story of loss, love and new beginnings. A Summers Sons album for the Winter." Turt writes in the album liner notes. It provides "Sunshine for grey days. A promise of blue skies when the clouds won't clear. This is an ode to absent shadows. For anybody that misses somebody. The sun don't always shine but we need The Rain to grow. The seeds will flower, even out of the darkest cracks in the pavement.”
The, J,M,B's stands for Jon, Moka, Brady. This trio of artists along with several other producers, and emcees form a larger umbrella group, the Torchlight Commission. This project was formulated around the idea that the 3 of us have a similar inspiration, creative drive, and outlook on the unique sound, which in turn inspires us to continue to push forward creatively. As the 3 of us have our own sound, we blend seamlessly into the fold.
Ladies and gentlemen may we present Sidenote - The Jazz Jousters dig 1969. This is simply a little project which is in similar fashion to our earlier tribute albums from our first three seasons. However, in this case the Jazz Jousters were each challenged to get digging in the crates and work with Jazz music from the year 1969 and come up with something in their own style. With the result of sixteen tracks to come out of this challenge it's safe to say it was a worthwhile session to get the creative juices flowing.
We hope you like this one!!
Oh but there's more... keep an eye out in December for the 7th anniversary 12" album which will follow this one to close the year.

Wun Two remains one of the most envied lo-fi hip-hop producers on the planet. Consistently pumping out thematic releases from last summer’s Pirata to his ever-consistent Snow series, his first vinyl release through Fat Beats since his 2016 Baker’s Dozen was spawned by a horror movie binge watch. “Nosferatu represents the atmosphere of Halloween and cold and darker days. I plugged the SP into my TV and recorded movie dialogs and sound samples while watching. At the end I had a lot of material/sound sources...I liked the outcome of it and decided to release it for Halloween.” Wun Two said.
Inspired in part by composers Maurice Jarre and Bernard Herrmann, Wun Two wanted to create a project that didn’t emote the somewhat-depressive feelings of certain scores, but an atmosphere of tension and suspense so often associated with Hitchcock and Stephen King novels.
This deluxe picture disc LP not only includes 2 bonus beats not included on the original digital release, but an additional track featuring vocals from CRIMEAPPLE. “My feature list is very short as I prefer to release instrumental tracks. But CRIMEAPPLE is definitely one of the most interesting MC´s now and it´s really great that we could win him for a contribution,” added Wun Two on the rare appearance from an MC over his beats.
Releasing this Halloween in a strict one-time vinyl pressing, Nosferatu is a perfect accompaniment as the weather gets colder and the nights darker.
If someone had to describe a perfect lofi beattape in the encyclopedia, the brandnew "goldfish ep" by oofoe from Vienna, would be the perfect example. The producer doesn't just put loops together, but also has an excellent feeling for melodies and the interplay of different instruments and sound elements. The result is a beautiful album, which wraps every listener dreamily and never lets him go.

2011's NoMaps traces a transitional period between two coasts, soundtracking Mndsgn’s transplant from New Jersey to Los Angeles. The 15 tracks take their own detours, in and out of softsynth compositions, textured loops and hard bops to illustrate relocation and it’s reflective nature. Collage by Yuk.
After having been requested by many followers of the funk, XL Middleton brings you the instrumental version of his previously-released 2 Minutes Till Midnight LP. For many fans out there lofi hiphop is a real sanctuary and mt. fujitive not only has the same opinion, but definitely is an integral part of it.
The impact of lofi hiphop is often underestimated by the general public. But whoever dives deeper into this scene knows what he has on these mellow sounds. With his new album "sanctuary" the beat maker from Reykjavik has set a monument to his favorite music genre. Like hardly any other producer, he knows how to create certain moods with his minimalistic beats. Each song on the record conjures up a different picture and yet "sanctuary" works as a beautiful unit that will convince all fans immediately!
Blue splatter vinyl, limited to 200 copies, exclusive to Fat Beats. Available on vinyl for the first time on vinyl in its entirety.
Diggin In The Crates (D.I.T.C.) was born out of a group of artists who began making noise in the late ‘80s and into the next decade and beyond—namely Lord Finesse, Diamond D, and Fat Joe. After well-received albums, an official, wider collective was founded that also included O.C., Big L, Buckwild, and producer-rapper combo, Show & A.G. (originally known as Showbiz & A.G.).
The crew proceeded to drop a run of sublime records, including Show & A.G.’s Soul Clap EP (1992), their full-length debut Runaway Slave (1992), followed by Goodfellas in 1995. Show & A.G.’s next project, Full Scale, arrived in 1998 and featured appearances from O.C., KRS-One, Big Pun, the Ghetto Dwellas and verses from members of D.I.T.C. including Diamond D, Big L and Lord Finesse.
In 2002 a CD version titled Full Scale LP (using the same artwork) was released with 10 additional tracks which had originally been released on various 12" singles and projects in the late 1990s. The project had never been released on vinyl in its entirety – until now.
Production on Full Scale was handled by Showbiz and A.G. except for "Time To Get This Money" which was produced by long-time collaborator Ahmed, and "Hold Mines" and "Hidden Crates" which were produced by DJ Greyboy.
The assortment of guest features doesn’t detract from A.G., a masterful emcee with a no-nonsense style that is simple but impactful. Full Scale follows the tried and true blueprint from Show & AG’s earlier classics cementing its place in hip hop history.
